Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has once again echoed his concern about the Polavaram project in his letter to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Patnaik's letter came post awake of the Environment Ministry's decision of extending the construction of the Multipurpose Polavaram Project on Gadaveri river in Andhra Pradesh. Odisha CM expressed his concern that if this project gets completed before the resolution of other pending cases in the state, it would cause permanent injury to the state and it's people in Odisha.

Patnaik wrote in his letter, "I would earnestly request you to kindly intervene in the matter and give appropriate direction to stop the construction work of the Polavaram Project immediately until all the pending issues are resolved." He also said that the project could be reformulated in a way that would cause no harm to the stae of Odisha, Telangana and Chhattisgarh.
