It was yesterday when MP Om Birla from parliamentary constituency of Kota-Bundi, Rajasthan was nominated for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker from NDA. There were news about the probability of him being the winner especially when he is the nominant from NDA which has the clear majority in the house.

Birla, the two time MP had been finally elected as the Lok Sabha speaker on Wednesday defeating Sumitra Mahajan. It was PM Modi who brought the motion of bringing Om Birla's name into attention for the post. All the other parties too supported Birla during the voice vote. Post his selection, PM Modi congratulaed Birla and also called him an inspiration.

Birla started his political career as a student leader and won first assembly elections in 2003, after which he continuously became the MLA until he won the Lok Sabha Elections in 2014. Besides being the Member of Parliament for two times, Birla had also been the member of legislative assembly thrice.
