The Indian National Congress had been into the controversies right after the declaration of the Lok Sabha 2019 General Election Results where the party faced phenomenal big defeat against the ruling party BJP. After the result declaration, party chief Rahul Gandhi gave his resignation to the party from his post, however the party refused to accept the same.

Gandhi ended speculations on thursday when he confirmed about staying stuck to his decision of steppind down from the post. He also stated that he would not be getting involved in the process of selecting the new party chief. He said, 'I am not going to get involved in that process, otherwise it will complicate things and the party has to decide'.

Despite hia adamancy, the Congress Working Committee (CWC)- the highest decision-making body of the Congress has rejected his resignation and has asked him to restructure the party at all the required levels while, rahul is adamant that the party will decide who is successor will be.
